The Littlefield Lady Cats went on the road last Tuesday and took down the Olton Fillies in four sets, 3-1.
Anna Vargas delivered a kill for the Lady Cats to open set one, and Emilee Synatschk sent a hit into the net for the Fillies to make the score, 2-0. Abby Rodriguez kept the Littlefield rally going with a kill, but Vargas sent a hit into the net on the next play to make the score, 3-1.
After a serve from Taryn Smith went un-returned, Kaleigh Geldenhuys followed it up with a kill to tie the set, 3-3. Rodriguez and Maggie McNeese sent hits off the mark to give Olton a, 3-5, lead, but the Lady Cats would respond, as Mc-Neese dropped in a tip off of the block attempt from Synatschk for a kill and HalleeKate Huguley sent a hit out of bounds for Olton, knotting up the set, 5-5.
A dig by Anaei Ojeda hit the foul pole for an Olton point, sparking a three-point Fillie rally, before Littlefield took a time out to talk things over, trailing, 5-8. Out of the break, Geldenhuys sent a hit sailing out of bounds and Faith Balderas followed it up with an ace for Littlefield to make it a one-point match, 7-8.
Olton would regain the serve, as Geldenhuys delivered a kill in front of the block attempt by McNeese and the next serve from Synatschk was not returned, pushing the Olton lead to, 7-10. The Fillies could not capitalize, as Synatschk sent a serve out of bounds, trimming the lead to, 8-10.
McNeese served up an ace off of Smith and Mattie Seymore followed it up with a kill off of Huguley to tie the set, 10-10. A serve from McNeese fell short of the net, but Rodriguez responded for Littlefield on the next play with a tip for a kill off of Amethyst Huerta to tie the set once more, 11-11.
Smith sent a hit out of bounds on the sideline for Olton and several miscues by the Fillies and a kill from Rodriguez put the Lady Cats in front, 18-14. Smith ended the Lady Cat rally with a tip for a kill, but McNeese answered with a kill that was hit out of bounds by Geldenhuys, making the score, 19-15. Geldenhuys sent a hit out of bounds on the sideline for Olton and Vargas followed it up with a kill off of Smith, extending the lead to, 21-15, as Olton took a time out to talk things over.
Out of the break, Geldenhuys sent a kill sailing out of bounds and Littlefield would score three consecutive points, ending the set with a block from McNeese on Geldenhuys to give Littlefi eld set one, 25-15.
Each team had a hit go out of bounds to open set two, but Synatschk answered with a tip for a kill, sparking a four point Olton rally that ended when Huguley sent a serve short of the net to make the score, 2-6. Huguley would set Geldenhuys up for a kill on the next play to regain the serve for the Fillies, and a dig by Ojeda went out of bounds, making the score, 2-8.
McNeese touched the net on a hit and the next serve from Synatschk was tipped out of bounds by Balderas, pushing the Olton lead to, 2-10. Vargas ended the Olton rally with a kill off of Smith and McNeese followed it up with another kill off of Smith to cut the lead to, 4-10.
Balderas tipped the net for an ace, but McNeese sent a hit into the net to give the serve back to Olton with the score, 5-11. Seymore responded quickly for Littlefield with a kill and a couple of Fillie miscues had the lead cut to, 8-11, before Balderas hit the roof with a hit to give the serve back to Olton. Smith delivered a kill off of the block attempt by Rylee Miller and Seymore sent a hit into the net for Littlefield, pushing the Fillies lead to, 8-14.
Geldenhuys sent a hit out of bounds for Olton, but on the next play, a tip by Smith was hit into the net by Rodriguez, pushing the lead to, 9-15. Barbara Gallegos sent a serve short of the net for Olton and Geldenhuys sent a hit sailing out of bounds on the next play to trim the lead to, 11-15, but Synatschk would answer with a kill off of the block attempt by Miller to make the score, 11-16.
Olton would fire offthe mark on back-to-back plays and McNeese would followed it up with a kill between Geldenhuys and Synatschk, before Geldenhuys answered with a kill off of Balderas to stretch the leadbackoutto, 14-17. The teams would go back and forth until McNeese sent a serve short of the net to make the score, 19-23. The Fillies would score back-to-back points to close out set two, 19-25, tying the set 1-1.
Olton would open set three with three consecutive hits off of the mark, before a tip by Synatschk was tipped out of bounds by Jaidyn Saenz, making the score, 3-1. The Fillies could not capitalize, as Huguley sent a hit into the net and a serve from Rodriguez on the next play went out of bounds off ofOlton, extending the lead to, 5-1.
Geldenhuys dropped in a tip for a kill off of the block attempt by McNeese, but it was short-lived, as a dig by Smith on the next play landed out of bounds, making the score, 6-2. McNeese followed it up with a kill over Kaybree Ramon and Synatschk and on the next play, McNeese won a tip battle at the net with Geldenhuys to score a kill and make the score, 8-2.
The Lady Cats got called for four hits after a hit from Seymore didn’t make it over the net, but the following serve from Synatschk fell short ofthe net, stretching the lead to, 9-3. A tip by Geldenhuys floated over the net for a kill, but her next serve landed out of bounds on the sideline, extending the Littlefield lead to, 10-4. A save on the next play from Geldenhuys didn't make it over the net, and Ojeda followed it up with an ace on the sideline, as Olton took a time out, trailing, 12-4.
Out of the break, Ojeda served up back-to-back aces, before Miller was called for a double-hit at the net, making the score, 14-5. Littlefield answered with a kill on the next play, and Seymore kept it going with an ace, before sending a serve short of the net, trimming the lead to, 16-6.
Rodriguez sent a tip into the net for Littlefield and Smith fol-lowed it up with a kill through the block attempt of Miller, but the Fillies were called for being across the net, making the score, 17-7. Littlefield would close out the set on an, 8-3, scoring run, to take set three, 25-10, and go up 2-1 in the match.

The Fillies had several miscues before Geldenhuys delivered a kill off of Rodriguez to trim the lead to, 7-3. Balderas sent a kill attempt sailing out of bounds for Littlefield, but the next serve from Synatschk fell short of the net, making the score, 8-4. Geldenhuys sent a hit into the net for Olton and Balderas served up an ace in front of Huerta before her next seive fell short of the net, cutting the lead to, 10-5.
The teams exchanged points and a long dig by Huerta was killed at the net by M iller, pushing the score to, 12-6. Miller followed it up with a kill in the back comer for the Lady Cats, before Seymore sent a kill sailing out of bounds to make the score, 13-7. Smith delivered a kill that was dug into the net by Balderas, but Gallegos came across the net on a dig attempt on the next play and Rodriguez followed it up with a kill off of Huerta, pushingthe lead to, 158. McNeese had a kill tipped out of bounds by Ramon, but Rodriguez hit the roof with a hit on the next play, giving the serve back to the Fillies with the score, 16-9.
After hits off of the mark from both teams, Vargas delivered a kill off ofGallegos, but Huguley answered for Olton with a kill over Balderas in the back row to make the score, 18-12. Huguley followed it up with an ace off of Balderas, but they could not keep the rally going, as Geldenhuys sent a hit sailing out ofbounds on the next play to make the score, 19-13.
McNeese had a kill tipped out ofbounds by Gallegos, but Geldenhuys responded for Olton with a tip for a kill to cut the lead to, 20-14. Each team sent a hit short of the net, by Geldenhuys dropped a tip between Balderas and Seymore for a kill to cut the lead to, 21 16. Olton would rally to make it a one-point game, after Smith dropped a tip over McNeese for a kill, but McNeese would answer with a kill off of Geldenhuys to push the lead back out to, 22-20. Smith was called for a double-hit for Olton, but Ramon tipped the net with a hit for a kill on the next play to regain the serve for the Fillies with the score, 23-21.
Littlefield responded, as McNeese delivered a kill past Geldenhuys on the sideline and a few plays later, a set up by Geldenhuys was to close to the net for Synatschk to get over, as Littlefield took set four, 2523, and the match, 3-1.
