City of Littlefield Coninutes to Implement Water Restrictions

Residents of Littlefield will need to continue conserving water as the city is keeping the restrictions in place under its Drought Contingency Plan. These measures are meant to protect the long-term water supply and hopefully encourage smarter water use across the community.

According to a press release by the city, these measures are still being taken as a proactive step, not an emergency response. But with many Texas Panhandle communities dealing with dropping water production levels, several nearby cities have similar restrictions in place.

Under these rules, residents must follow assigned watering schedules, limit irrigation to certain designated hours, and follow guidelines for activities like washing vehicles. ( See Page 14) With the goal of cutting back on unnecessary use while still allowing for essential needs, officials are asking everyone to do their part by being mindful of water use.

Additionally, the city announced that it will be working with local businesses to support conservation efforts.
