The 46th annual Sandhills Celebration is set to begin on Wednesday, July 29th, and continue through August 1st.
On Wednesday, July 30th, there will be an Open House at the Cavett Memorial Center from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., followed by hamburgers by Olton Volunteer Ambulance Association at the Pavilion at 6 p.m. Gospel singing will take place at the Pavilion from 7 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The first night will wrap up with the Chris Jones Ice Cream Social and Contest beginning at 7:30 p.m. Contact Stacie Ramage for more information at ( 806) 638- 2899. The Sandhills Sweetheart candidates will be presented that evening.
On Thursday, July 30th, the Sandhills Sweetheart Pageant will take place at the Olton High School Auditorium at 7 p.m.
On Friday, August 31st, the festivities will begin at 10 a. m. with vendor booths that will remain open until 11 p.m. Entertainment by DJ Ferly begins at 12 p.m., along with the Pickleball Tournament at the Olton High School Tennis Courts. The dog show will begin at 5 p.m. at the Pavilion and registration for the Cornhole Tournament will begin at 5:30 p.m., with the Tournament starting at 6 p.m. Contact Amber DeBerry for more information about the dog show at (806) 685-0915, and contact Josue Pedroza for information about the tournament at (806) 543-3812.
Also beginning at 6 p.m., hamburgers by the Olton Ambulance Assciation will be served at the Pavilion and the Volleyball Tournament will begin at Stiles Park. Contact Lety Jimenez at ( 806) 8696103. From 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. there will be an Old McDonald Family Fun Petting Zoo.
From 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., there will be a Dance featuring music from Red Dirt Rockers, and from 8:45 p.m. to 9 p.m., the Sandcrawl Museum Bake Sale and Cake Auction will be held at the Pavilion.
Saturday, August 1st activities will begin with vendor booths opening at the Pavilion from 10 a.m. until 11 p. m., and the W. B. Dickinson Parade will begin at 10 a.m.
Open House at the Museum will begin at 11 a.m. and Heritage Manor Tours will be by appointment only (Call the Library at (806) 285-7772). The Joe Harrell Memorial Car show will begin at 11: 15 a. m. at Wellington State Bank.
At noon, Hamburgers by the Olton Volunteer Ambugraduate. Association will be available at the Pavilion, and the Golf Scramble will begin at 1 p.m. at the Olton Country Club. Stop by the Pro Shop to sign up. Also happening at 1 p.m. is the Square Dance Caller. The Junior High Cheer Tennis Ball Drop will be at 2 p.m. Tennis balls will be sold throughout the Sandhills Celebration; contact Ami Rios at (806) 781-5381. From 2 p.m to 4 p.m., the school district will be open for tours. Registration for the Saturday Cornhole Tournament will begin at 5:30 p.m., with the tournament starting at 6 p.m. Contact Josue Pedroza at (806) 543-3812 for more information.
Also at 6 p.m. there will be a recognition of Pioneers and guests at the Pavilion. The dance will be from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., featuring the Tanner Lane Band.
