The Castro County Sheriff’s Office has identified and arrested two suspects in connection with a homicide investigation that left 21-year-old Earth resident Dereck Lorenzo Rosalez dead on July 6, 2026.
According to reports from the Castro County Sheriff’s Office, officials received disturbance calls and reports of a man down on Avenue B, outside of Hart city limits on July 6 at around 8:48 p.m.
Upon arriving on scene, a deputy located a man with wounds, who would later be identified as 21-year-old Dereck Lorenzo Rosalez. Rosalez was transported to Plains Memorial Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Officials also reported that the assailants, later identified as William Quintero Zuniga, 25, and Brayan Quintero Trejo, 23, of Hart, Texas, fled the scene in an unknown vehicle.
In an investigation alongside the Texas Rangers, officials arrested Zuniga and Trejo on July 8, 2026.
Zuniga was charged with murder and tampering with physical evidence, and Trejo was charged with tampering with physical evidence.
Both await arraignment.
