June 11, 1939 ~ June 28, 2026
Howard Lee Baker, 87, of Littlefield, Texas passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2026. He was born on June 11, 1939, in El Paso, Texas to Oscar Lee and Florence Baker.
From Oct. 9, 1962, to Oct. 8, 1968, Howard served in the United States Army. Howard was grateful for the life he had with his family and friends. On Nov. 4, 1966, he married Linda Gayle Owens. Howard and Linda moved to Littlefield, and he worked at Littlefield Memorial Park as the ground crew maintenance.
Those who knew Howard would agree that he was not shy about rolling up his sleeves and getting work done. He was a truck driver for Central Truck Freight for many years and worked at American Cotton Growers. On the days he had off from work, you could find him tending to his cars and yard. He was adventurous in spirit and loved riding motorcycles. Music gave him peace, in particular, Bluegrass, Country, and Gospel music. Howard was a member of Crescent Park Church of Christ.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Jess Baker of Littlefield; five granddaughters, Juanita Aleman and spouse, Cory of Lubbock, Ashley Baker and Carey McMullen of Littlefield, Jessica Baker, Alicia Baker and spouse, Rudy Reyna, and Lucinda Baker all of Lubbock; two sisters, Ethel Marie Baker of Ft. Worth, and Gloria Helen Cooper of Brownwood; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Howard is preceded in death by his wife, Linda Gayle Baker; his parents, Oscar Lee and Florence Baker; and his brother, Jess Baker, Sr.
