Lfd. FFA hosts Annual Banquet

Littlefield FFA hosted its annual end-of-year banquet on May 18, 2026, awarding the organization’s members, recognizing seniors leaving the program and naming the new FFA officers.

“When I joined FFA, I knew I was gonna have a plan,” FFA President Ty Carr expressed in his exit speech. “I knew I wanted to do leadership roles, speaking and be really active in it. After I stopped doing athletics in my sophomore year, I’m so happy I did that. I love this more than anything; it was setting me up for a great path.”

Initiating the night’s various awards, members who competed in the Leadership Development Events received recognition first. LDE focuses on simulating situations for members to showcase their decisionmaking, communication and agricultural skills.

The awarded members included: Ty and Piper Carr and Emma Romero, Radio 1; Avaley Campbell and Mattie Seymore, Radio 2; Brenna Lowe, GH Creed; Wesson Dwyer, GH Quiz; Alexaundrea Dalton and Brenna Lowe, Public Relations; Ty and Piper Carr, Sr Creed; Craig Jennings, Brooklynne Story, Katharina Hill, Tayte Miller, Ky Hays, Maggie McNeese and Alexaundrea Dalton, Sr Quiz; and Craig Jennings, Ky Hays and Maggie McNeese, Sr Skills.

Brenna Lowe received the GH Leadership Development Events Star award, and Ty Carr received the Chapter Leadership Development Events Star award.

Next, Career Development Events competitors were recognized. CDE competitors utilize critical thinking for situations related to the agricultural science industry.

The awarded members included: Manny Garcia, Jayden Kirkland and JJ Gonzalez, Tractor Team; Avaley Campbell, Ally Dalton, Brooklynne Story and JJ Gonzalez, Cotton Team; Brenna Lowe, Boston Halton and Craig Jennings, Farm Business Management; Boston Halton, Maggie McNeese and Tayte Miller, Homsite; Brooklynne Story, Avaley Campbell and Taylor Campbell, Wildlife; Piper and Ty Carr, Tayte Miller and Emma Romero, Livestock; Brooklynne Story, Avaley Campbell and Emma Rommero, Dairy Cattle; Ally Dalton, Ty Carr, Payton Bussanmas and Kat Hill, Land; and Kat Hills, Brenna Lowe, Taylor Campbell and Ky Hays, Horse.

Boston Halton received the Chapter Career Development Events Star award.

Following the CDE awards, Speaking Development Events competitors were recognized. SDE members receive the opportunity to express their ideas on various topics.

The awarded members included: Maggie McNeese, Extemporaneous Speaking; Brenna Lowe, Junior Prepared Speaking; Piper Carr, Senior Prepared Ag Policy; Ty Carr, Senior Prepared Animal Science; Avaley Campbell and Brooklynne Story, Senior Prepared Plant Science; Craig Jennings and Ky Hays, Senior Prepared Tech and Communication; and Kat Hill and Boston Haltom, Soil Stewardship.

Ky Hays received the Star Speaking Development Events award.

Several members received superlatives in recognition of their improvement or dedication during the competition season.

Awarded members included: Rainy Hays, Top Junior Showman; Tayte Miller, Top Senior Showman; Eric Trejo and Uriel Ibarra, Top Hand Award; Mattie Seymore, Top Rookie Award; and Manny Garcia, Most Improved.

Two individuals received honorary FFA Degrees; this award honors the commitment and the impact they made on FFA members. The two awarded were Audrey Bussanmas and Ray Vargas.

Honoring FFA members who completed their first year in the program, FFA Greenhand Degrees were awarded. A Greenhand degree recognizes a first-year member who demonstrates an understanding of FFA history, structure and principles.

Greenhand Degree recipients included Wess Dwyer, Ally Dalton, Brenna Lowe and Tinslee Miller.

Brenna Lowe received the Star Greenhand award.

After first-year members received their Greenhand Degree, second and thirdyear members received a Chapter FFA Degree.

Chapter Degree recipients included: Brayden Black, Ryan Muller, Craig Jennings, Emma Romero, Katt Hill, Taylor Campbell, Piper Carr, Mattie Seymore and Avaley Campbell.

Piper Carr received the Star Chapter award.

As the highest degree, the Lonestar Degree serves as the highest recognition of membership that the State FFA Association can award. Members may apply for this accolade and are awarded at a convention in the summer.

Lonestar Degree candidates included Ky Hays and Maggie McNeese.

Marking the end of an era, FFA seniors exiting the program were honored during the jacket retirement ceremony. In this tradition, FFA seniors remove their jackets as a symbolic gesture of their time in the program. Seniors leaving the program included Ty Carr, Payton Bussanmas, Erik Trejo, Ally Dalton, Tate Clark, Jayden Kirkland, Tayte Miller and Uriel Ibarra.

Concluding the program, the new FFA Officers were announced. Reflecting on his time in the program, exiting senior Ty Carr expressed gratitude for the companionship that FFA offered.

“FFA has given me my highest highs and my lowest lows, but I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way,” Carr said. “Through everything I’ve done, I may not be who I want to be, but I’m way more than I was (before), and I can’t help but think of all the people who pushed me to get there.”

The 2026 to 2027 officers are: Boston Halton, Historian; Taylor Campbell, Chaplain; Brooklynne Story, Student Advisor; Avaley Campbell, Sentinel; Kat Hill, Reporter; Emma Romero, Treasurer; Ky Hays, Secretary; Maggie McNeese, Vice President; and Piper Carr, President.
