Filing to run for the May 2, 2026, city and school board elections closed on Feb. 13, prompting some cities to cancel elections for unopposed candidates, while others will host an election.
Early voting starts on April 20, 2026, and continues through April 28, 2026. Election Day is Saturday, May 2, 2026.
City of Littlefield
The two candidates on the ballot for the District 1 City Council seat are incumbent Eric Saenz and Brian Lee Kreis.
District 2 incumbent City Councilman Jason Ayalla filed for re-election and is running unopposed.
Littlefield ISD
Precinct 2 incumbent Schoolboard Trustee Sean Vargas filed for election and is running unopposed.
Three candidates are running for Precinct 4: Cody West, Holly Nelson and incumbent Sal Acevedo.
Three candidates are running for Precinct 5: Ben Diaz, Brandon Salinas and Oscar (OJ) Zapata Jr.
City of Amherst
Two commissioner positions are available, and three candidates are seeking election: incumbent Rosa Logsdon, incumbent Michael (Mickey) Brantley and R.d. Gass.
Amherst Proposition 1
Amherst residents will vote “yes” or “no” to adopt a local sales tax at the rate of one-fourth of 1% to fund the maintenance and repair of municipal streets
City of Springlake
The current mayor of Springlake, Chuck Conner, is running against current alderperson, Johnny Landrum, for City Council.
City of Earth
Two candidates are running for mayor, incumbent John Kelly and Eddie Nieto.
The incumbent alder-person, Susy Ruby, is running unopposed.
Anton, Olton and Sudan decided to cancel their elections, as incumbent members filed for re-election and remained unopposed.
