aroma; as one pizza comes out of the oven, several more are prepared and ready to take its place.
Initiated with a celebration and fitting red, white and blue balloons, the first Domino’s location on 1607 Phelps Ave in Littlefield opened its doors on Feb. 6, 2026.
“We’re very hands-on and very competitive– we want to do it well,” supervisor Jessa Busby said. “We put everything into it.”
This location is now the third Domino’s store owned and operated by Jessa Busby and franchisee of records Jonathan Busby. Together, alongside the help of Jonathan’s parents, Johnny and Yolanda Busby, the couple also runs Domino’s locations in Levelland and Brownfield.
“Our goal is to do the best we can, and we train everybody that comes to work for us the same way,” Johnny Busby said. “There’s no favorites, no nothing–just a plan to keep everything going smooth as you can, especially when it’s during a dinner rush.”
With deep familial roots and a passion for the industry, the family’s collective efforts made the wishes of Littlefield residents possible.
“ We’ve had the Levelland and Brownfield locations since 2020, and we’ve had people come in and say, ‘Man, y’all should open a Domino’s in Littlefield,’ and being very persistent about it,” Jessa Busby said. “ We were keeping our eye on it and just waiting for the right moment.”
Initially, the couple met while working together at a Domino’s location in Lubbock. At that time, Jonathan attended Lubbock Christian University while Jessa attended Texas Tech University.
What started as their first job transitioned into their career.
“I knew I wanted to work at Domino’s for my first job,” Jessa Busby said. “For a bit, (Jonathan) wasn’t sure what he wanted to do. He was considering becoming a police officer, and I talked him into doing this instead.”
The path to working as a Domino’s franchisee is common within the company. Approximately 95% of franchisees started as pizza makers or delivery drivers, according to the Domino’s website.
Before earning the position, an aspiring franchisee must work as a manager or general manager, maintain a 4.5-star Domino’s inspection average and attend Franchise Management School, Jessa detailed.
Thus, Jonathan became a franchisee in 2018 and bought his first store in Washington State before returning to Lubbock in 2020.
“We can take a location that’s not doing very good and, within a year, turn it around,” Johnny Busby said, “that’s what Jonathan’s really good at.”
Johnny’s pride in his son’s efforts is easily recognizable and emerged early on once he witnessed Jonathan’s earliest business- savvy roots.
“He’s very good at running a business, he has since he was little,” Johnny Busby said. “ When he wanted a cell phone when they first came out, he made some money and got one. When he wanted a toy, he went and got his little red wagon, picked apricots and sold them to everybody on the block, and got what he wanted.”
“Even as a little kid in elementary, he’s been good at knowing what he wants and striving to get into it,” Johnny Busby added.
Unlike previous ownership experiences, this is the first time the Busby family built a store of their own.
“Never had built a store before, so it was a new challenge for me and Jonathan,” Johnny Busby said. “Once we got everything going, it was just a lot of long hours. Some days we’d get here at 9 in the morning, leave at 3 o’clock the next night, and still get back here the next morning to do it all again.”
Between revamping the store locations in Levelland and Brownfield and establishing a new location in Littlefield, their objectives remain the same: consistently providing good product and customer service.
“If you don’t have a good product, then you won’t have the customers,” Johnny Busby said. “ If you’re not good with the customers, you won’t have anyone to sell to. If you buy something today, and you buy it next month, it should look the same as it did when you got it the first time.”
The team is eager to promptly serve the Littlefield community during school events, dinner rushes and any pizza party occasions.
Currently, Jessa said the team is looking to fill 12 positions, including manager and delivery driver roles. The store can be contacted at (806)810-6080.
