Carmen Bley Gilley, 79, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away Saturday, October 11, 2025 in Lubbock. She was born April 28, 1946 in Amherst, Texas to Garrett Henry Bley and Lora (Newton) Bley.
Carmen lived in Olton, Texas for many years and was active in her community. She owned and operated Carmen's Western Wear before closing in 1987. Carmen was an avid supporter of many local organizations and events, such as local stock shows and Boy Scouts. Even after moving to Lubbock she still returned every year to the Olton Sandhills Celebration. Carmen married Cloyce Gilley on October 5, 1989 in Littlefield. The couple built a life together, both in Lubbock and at their home on Lake Stamford. Carmen loved fishing, and they spent countless hours out on the lake together. She was a talented seamstress, and liked quilting. More than anything, being a "Grandmama" to her grandchildren and great grandchildren was her greatest joy. She loved spending time with them and they loved her special pretzels she made for each of them. Carmen was a member of Green Lawn Church of Christ in Lubbock.
Carmen is survived by her husband, Cloyce Gilley of Lubbock; son, Michael Lawson and wife, Julie of Keller, Texas; two daughters, Stacie Shelton and husband, Blain of Edmond, Oklahoma and Lisa Moltz and husband, Tim of Borger, Texas; eight grandchildren, Summer Shealy, Ciera Shelton, Spencer Shelton, Sterling Shelton, Tanner Moltz, Taylor Hanifin, Justin Reiter and Mia Lawson; fifteen great grandchildren; and other extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her son, Chris Lawson in 2009; a grandson, Dustin Blake Lawson in 1996; and her parents.
Funeral Services were held Tuesday afternoon, October 14, 2025 at Green Lawn Church of Christ in Lubbock with Dale Mannon officiating. Graveside services followed at Olton Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the personal care of Ramage Family Funeral Directors in Olton, Texas.
