This past weekend, Feb. 22, 2025, at Monterey High School in Lubbock, seven Sudan High School students competed in the National Speech and Debate Association district tournament against 1A through 6A schools from Midland/Odessa to the top of the Panhandle.
After 3 days of intense competition, three of the students won berths to the National NSDA Tournament this June in Des Moines, Iowa.
Jolie Dyke and Garicyn Bigham advanced in CX Debate and Drew Lockhart advanced in Program Oral Interpretation.
Mr. Robertson said, “ This year’s Speech Team is loaded with talent. These seven students competed against some huge large school programs and achieved at the highest levels. I can’t say enough about them. They represent Sudan very well. I am so proud of all of the team.”
