Ruth Lavelle Hill, 83, of Littlefield, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, in Littlefield, Texas. She was born on November 29, 1941, in Sudan, Texas to Ocie and Ruth Callaway. She married Eugene Dale Hill on February 3, 1961.
Lavelle worked as a cosmetologist at Roden's Drug for many years and then later went to work as Assistant Manager at Lowe's Pharmacy. She enjoyed floral arranging and did wedding flowers for many family members and friends over the years. She was also talented with interior design and enjoyed re-upholstering furniture. She was affectionately known as "Grammy" to her grandchildren and great grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. She loved helping people and would do anything for anyone without giving it a second thought. She was the sweetest woman, beautiful, best friend and loyal person, never without a smile and a hug for everyone but she did have an onery and mischievous streak too. She was a mom to all her children's friends. She loved being outside, working in her yard and helping in the shop.
Those left behind to cherish her memories are her two sons, Derek Hill and wife, Rene of Littlefield, TX, and Kyle Hill and wife, Michelle of Eustace, TX; a daughter, Anita Howell and husband, Conor Gene of Post/Coahoma, TX; five grandchildren, Stephen Lyle Hill and wife, Jennifer of Fort Worth, TX, Jason Hill and wife, Emily of Lubbock, TX, Amanda Larelle Purcell and husband, Devon of Corpus Christi, TX, Jeremy Charles Murray of Lubbock, TX and Stephen Beau Bauer of Littlefield, TX; four great grandchildren, Kayleigh Elizabeth Hill, Shawn Andrew Hill, Charlotte "Charlie" Avery Bauer, Charlotte "Charlie" Lauren Purcell and another great grandchild on the way; a brother, Ben Callaway and wife, Vera of South Carolina; and a nephew, Delbert Dale Harlin of Littlefield, TX.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Dale Hill; her sister, Virginia Harlin; and her brother-in-law, Lindel Harlin.
Funeral Services were held Friday afternoon, February 21, 2025, at Sudan First Baptist Church with Tracy Spencer officiating. Interment followed in Sudan Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family is asking that donations be made to Littlefield EMS, Littlefield Fire Department, and any Children's Foundation.
Arrangements were under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield, Texas.
