What started as a gym in Levelland is now available in Littlefield.
You walk in and are immediately welcomed by the front desk. Nice and clean is one way to describe Energy Fitness in Littlefield, located at 713 W Marshall Howard Blvd.
“We’ve been doing this a long time,” Jones said.
Energy Fitness is a 24-hour gym owned by Littlefield local Marty Jones and his family.
The location in Levelland opened in April 2008 and has operated for 17 years. “We’ve looked at Littlefield, we live here in Littlefield, but the timing was never right,” Jones said.
The gym, fairly new, opened on June 24, 2024.
Owning a business isn’t new to Jones; his family owned the Ace Hardware store in town. He’s seen the environment and has the knowledge to run his own business. Fitness has always been something he’s interested in, Jones said.
Opening the first Energy Fitness in Levelland was a learning experience for Jones. “It was a slow process because we didn’t quite know,” Jones said.
He slowly replaced and bought new equipment and made changes throughout the years. Flexibility is something Jones learned to have as he opened Energy Fitness.
“We were able to use that model when we opened this one,” Jones said.
Energy Fitness in Littlefield is smaller compared to Levelland’s. Building up Littlefield’s to Levelland’s will take time as it is in a different stage.
Energy Fitness is open 24 hours. Members receive a key fob to enter the facility. Memberships don’t require an initiation fee or contract. The facility offers free weights, circuit, cardio and a turf area.
Memberships start at singles for $39 plus tax, joint for $59 plus tax and family of three for $69 plus tax. Payments can be set automatically for once a month or can be paid for six months to 12 months at a time.
Potential members can sign up in person, over the phone, or online. Those who sign up online can get the first 14 days free.
Currently, the gym is at a slow point in the year but prepares for the start of a busy period.
“We’re coming into the busy time next year, which is New Year’s Resolutions,” Jones said. “January through May is a really good time for gyms; you’re building, building, building.”
Jones wouldn’t be able to run the gym alone without the help of his family. His wife and son, Amy and Mason Jones, help run both gyms.
“We kind of float between both locations,” Jones said.
Jones works Monday through Saturday, with office hours being Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
His goal was to provide a good, clean place to work out.
“We want it to be safe, secure and people to feel good about,” Jones said.
All are welcome to Energy Fitness, as a wide range of people are members. The busiest times of day are 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
“We’re open 24/7, call us or come by,” Jones said.
