Trinity Church will be hosting the annual Community Pumpkin Trail on October 19th from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Crescent Park in Littlefield.
This year’s event is led by Rosalinda Montes, Pastor Billy Montes’ wife. Montes got involved with Trinity Church when she was 21 years old. Feeling like she hit rock bottom with her family, Montes attended Trinity Church after being invited by her mother-in-law, she said.
“We needed hope, we needed a change in our life, and I knew I wanted to be different for my kids,” Montes said.
Twenty years later, Montes continues attending and helping Trinity Church, now putting together the eleventh annual Community Pumpkin Trail.
The Trail began after Pastor Andy and Meghan Melton had the idea to host the event after attending a similar one in Lubbock.
“They wanted something for the community in Littlefield,” Montes said.
They loved the idea of getting families together.
Montes’ job consist of advertising and reaching out to organizers who have helped in the past, she also marks the spots the morning of the Trail for organizers to set up. The day of Montes takes photos of attendees at the photobooth she puts together at the Trail entrance, she said.
“I upload them to the Pumpkin Trail page. That’s been my job for the past couple of years,” Montes said.
The Trail welcomes all to set up their own booths and attend the family friendly event.
“It’s gotten bigger throughout the years,” Montes said.
From a prayer booth to food booths, the trail continues to provide new attractions.
“Different businesses are coming out more and more every year. We’ve added spots throughout,” Montes said.
Businesses and organizations are able to set up their booths on a first come first serve basis. There will be a trophy awarded to the best booth.
You may decorate or carve a pumpkin and drop it off on the Trail. This is a free, family-friendly event, with games and prizes, hot cocoa and a hay ride. There will also be a photobooth, popcorn and a cake walk.
“We’ve had a lot of people who enjoy it because it’s family oriented, family friendly and it’s free,” Montes said.
