James Wilbert Price, Sr. passed away on August, 14, 2024 at his home in Littlefield, Texas. He was born to father, Charles Price, Sr. and mother, Ester Rosemond Wells (stepfather Forest Griss Wells) in Branchville, Texas on April 18, 1942. He attended Branchville School and graduated from O.J. Thomas High School in Cameron, Texas in 1960. James enjoyed playing basketball at both schools before attending Tyler barber school in Houston, Texas. He moved to Amherst, Texas with his Uncle Bubba, where he met the love of his life, Doris Price. Together they raised seven children and spent 62 beautiful years together.
James worked at American Cotton Growers, where he was a courier. He retired after 35 long years. James enjoyed spending time with family and friends, completing word searches, hauling iron, taking family trips, visiting family in his hometown, and telling childhood stories. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, where he was the church treasurer.
James leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Doris Price of Amherst; two sons, James Price Jr. (Natasha Price), and Forrest Price of Amherst; three daughters, Carolyn Price of Amherst, Melanie Ford (Joshua Ford) of Clovis, NM and Paula Scott (Dale Scott) of Lubbock, TX; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; four sisters, Marie Whitfield of Cameron, Mary Freeman of Hewitt, TX, Shelia Randolph of Houston, TX, and Diane Thomas of Houston, TX; many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends, Anna Smith and Linda Smith.
Preceding him in death was his father, Charles Price, Sr.; stepfather, Forest Griss Wells; mother, Ester Rosemond Wells; two sons, Trent Price and Christopher Price; and a granddaughter, Danielle Scott.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August, 24, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Amherst. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery in Amherst. Visitation will be on Friday, August, 23, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Peace Deliverance Church in Littlefield.
