Nov. 12, 1960 ~ May 25, 2024
Terri Jo (Cowan) Hanna, 63, of Sudan, passed away Saturday May 25, 2024 in Littlefield. She was born November 12, 1960 in Littlefield to Jimmy Ray Cowan and Gayla Ann (Batson) Cowan. Terri graduated from Amherst High School with the Class of 1979. She began working at the Lamb County Courthouse right after high school. For 45 years, Terri was a dedicated employee, working in various roles, but her last title was in the Juvenile Probation Office. Many of her colleagues over the years became lifelong friends, because to know Terri was to love her. She was a talented pianist, playing on Sunday for several area churches, most recently Sudan First Baptist where she was currently attending. She also was honored to share her talent at many area graduations and weddings.
Terri married Matt Hanna December 28, 2001 in Amherst. Her greatest joy was her family. She loved watching her nieces, nephews, cousins, and children of her friends, supporting them in all their sporting events and programs. She was their biggest fan and cheerleader, always rooting for them. Although she had no biological children of her own, Terri was like a mother to many, she loved everyone as her own.
She is survived by her husband, Matt Hanna of Sudan; two sisters, Tammy McDaniel and husband, Michael of Littlefield and Tracy Simmons and husband, Dan of Cypress, Texas; special aunt, Christi Pointer and her children, Tiffini, Brandon and Sundi, their spouses and children; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 30, 2023 at First Baptist Church in Littlefield. Interment will follow in Sudan Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Mike DeLoach, Scott Say, Kent Lewis, Guyle Roberson, Mark Yarbrough, and Felix Klein. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Our Place (301 S. Ripley, Littlefield, TX 79339). Arrangements are under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield.
