In Loving Memory Of Marjorie Veach
July 12, 1930 ~ May 4, 2024
Marjorie Veach, 93, of Littlefield, Texas passed away Saturday, May 4, 2024 in Littlefield. Marjorie was born July 12, 1930, in Kirtlington, Bicester, Oxford, England to Jesse and Ivy Sykes. She met her beloved husband, Adrian, when he was stationed in England during World War II. They married in 1946 in Middleton Stoney, Oxford, England. Margie's family has always rejoiced that Adrian met and married that English girl and brought her to Texas.
She and Adrian, upon returning to Texas in 1947, settled in Littlefield. Besides her job as homemaker, she was also an in-home caregiver to friends' and family's children and a cook at local restaurants. Her favorite job was as a cook at Littlefield Elementary cafeteria. She loved all the children who came through her line. She retired from that position after working there for over 15 years. Margie was an excellent seamstress and was proud of the fact that she had made all her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren an apron. The last year of her life, she had even made all the aforementioned people a pillowcase. She was a fabulous cook and baker as all her friends and family can attest. Her sweet husband had a fabulous garden, and Margie canned every last crop that he harvested. At the age of 93, she won a blue ribbon for her apricot jelly at the South Plains Fair. And most every afternoon would find Margie sitting with a myriad of friends and family enjoying a cup of coffee and a slice of one of her homemade breads, usually banana nut or zucchini bread. She cherished the time spent with her family, and loved to host family gatherings in her home for every occasion. Another delight in her life was the pride she took at becoming a US citizen.
Marjorie is survived by her son, Alan Veach and wife, Jeanie of Spring, Texas; a daughter, Donna Veach of Littlefield; seven grandchildren, Shelli Steadman of Littlefield, David Veach and wife, Lisa of The Woodlands, Texas, Kim Stunkard and husband, Thomas of Lubbock, Stacey Jordan Floyd of Abilene, Texas, Joseph Jordan of Abilene, Texas, Travis Veach of Spring, Texas, and Taylor Silvas and husband, Pat of Lubbock. Mrs. Veach is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren with another great on the way; and one great-great grandson.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Adrian Veach; a daughter, Janna Lassiter; a grandson, Mark Veach; and ten siblings who resided in England.
Funeral services are planned for 11:00 am on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at Grace Chapel in Littlefield, Texas with Justin Stice officiating. However, the family requests that all funeral guests come at 10:00 to visit with family and share "Margie" stories and memories. Interment will follow the funeral at Littlefield Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be David Veach, Travis Veach, Pat Silvas, Thomas Stunkard, Chyenne Ybarra, and Zachary Jordan.
