Producers Need Affordable and Dependable Insurance Products

PCG CEO Kody Bessent attended the Crop Insurance Professionals Association Spring Meeting this week and served on a panel discussion with other key allied organizations including the National Cotton Council, American Farm Bureau Federation, Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Cooperative and National Corn Growers Association.

The allied panel outlined key Farm Bill priorities for each of the respective organizations. During the panel, Bessent discussed the recent cease and desist order issued by the U.S. Department of Agriculture Risk Management Agency (RMA) on March 15, Bessent made comments supporting the action from RMA.

“The order will allow us to pause and evaluate the relationship between AIPs, crop insurance agents and producers collectively, so we can come to an amicable solution to the issue at hand. Our producers need affordable and dependable insurance products going forward, while companies also need to maintain their profitability. This order allows us to find solutions that are mutually beneficial and effective.”
