Where is your anchor?

We have anchors. We have people, places, experiences that keep us grounded. We have practices that bring us back from whatever orbit we’ve been launched into. When life begins to fall apart, our anchors keep us firmly attached so that we don’t find ourselves adrift in a swirl of chaos. The NRSV says that our hope in Jesus Christ is “a sure and steadfast Anchor” (Hebrews 6:19). Eugene Peterson calls it “an unbreakable spiritual lifeline” (Hebrews 6:19, The Message), and we cling to it for dear life.
