Weed and insect pressure is starting to build across the Cotton Belt, but Mother Nature has been the biggest pest in some areas over the past week. Despite those challenges, our contributing cotton consultants say the overall crop is in pretty good shape. Here’s their report for late June.

Local program needs volunteers to serve as Long-Term Care Ombudsmen Advocates empower residents in nursing homes!

LIFE, Inc.’s Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program is seeking volunteers in Bailey, Crosby, Floyd, Garza, Hale, Hockley, Lamb, Lubbock, Lynn, Motley, Terry, and Yoakum Counties to advocate for residents living in nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Volunteer ombudsman visit residents, identify and investigate complaints, and educate residents, families, and facility staff on protecting the health, safety, welfare, and rights of individuals living in long- term care settings.

LAMB COUNTYLEAFANDAGRI LIFE DAYCAMP2023 – The Day Camp is a two event that is free to the public and has all kinds of events. The camp concluded on Wednesday with a pool party. There were 59 kids in attendance during day one of the camp. The stations for the first day of the camp on Tuesday included face painting/jumper, bracelets, snacks, Police Dept. Games/F.A.S. and T-shirts/Outside games. Those helping out with the camp were Toni Montes and Kim Clardy, Brianna Castillo, Armando Ramon, MJ Randle, Tyler Cristan and Ricky Garcia with the Lamb County LEAF. Members of the LPD who helped out were Samuel Garcia, Pedro Cruz, Leesha Scroggins and Shane Martinez. Agri Life members who helped out were Brandon Albus, Kathy Lostron, Courtney Lowe, Jenna Yarbrough, Ivy Beard, Janet Muller, Shalye Harper, Ashlee Walker, Claire Lostroh, Brindle Harper, Khloe Marez, Jaden Burt, JT Burt, Kealee Bussey, Ty Carr, Piper Carr, Valaree Harper, Ryan Muller and Grant Muller.
