Representative Jackson introduces Pro-Texas Agriculture Legislation

Congressmen Ronny Jackson (R-TX) and Henry Cuellar (DTX) introduced bipartisan legislation aimed at helping the Texas agriculture community recover from the recent winter storm. H.R. 1692, the RESTORE (Rehabilitating Economic Success Through Overcoming Rural Emergencies) Act, would help our farmers recover from natural disasters by reauthorizing the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Wildfire Hurricane Indemnity Program Plus (WHIP+) to cover natural disasters from 2020 and 2021. This program previously provided payments to producers to offset losses from natural disasters that occurred in 2018 and 2019.

SWCD taking orders now for windbreak trees and plants

The Lamb County Soil and Water Conservation District is currently taking orders for the Spring Windbreak Tree and other plants sales. There is a variety of trees and other plants available, but everyone interested is strongly encouraged to get orders in as quickly as possible to ensure the variety and quantity of the trees and plants are available.

Auxin Certification Trainings

Several auxin certification trainings have already been conducted in 2021 and several more are planned. These satisfy the US Environmental Protection Agency mandatory dicamba training and the Texas Department of Agriculture requirement for approved dicamba and 2,4-D formulations.

Local farmer following grandfather’s occupation

Saturday afternoon, I had a nice visit with one of our local farmers, Seth Carpenter of Littlefield, just in time for “Agriculture Week” this week. Seth is a life-long resident of Littlefield/Lamb County, and at age 24, he is already fulfilling his dream of being in the field of Agriculture.
