If ever a year slammed home the importance of crop insurance, it was 2022. For many cotton growers, especially in the Texas High Plains and Panhandle areas, it proved to be a saving grace as plantings dried up and withered away — if they emerged at all.

At the Amarillo Farm and Ranch Show Cotton Conference last week, Kody Bessent, Plains Cotton Growers CEO, opened his outlook presentation saying, “It’s been a wild year.” Many High Plains producers, ginners and merchants have stated this year is unprecedented in terms of input costs, market volatility, crop conditions, etc. The High Plains is not alone.

Dennis enjoys working at the Lamb County Library

Victoria “Tori” Dennis has been the Program Director and Social Media Coordinator at the Lamb County Library since September, but has worked at the library for much longer than that. Dennis said she started volunteering at the library in January and get her full-time job in May, after Candy Seth retired.
