The Amherst Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture has announced that it is “Wild About Amherst!”, and has scheduled its “40th Annual Amherst Chamber Banquet” at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, 2012, in the Amherst School Cafeteria.

The Chamber will be awarding the “Citizen(s) of the Year”, and High School Senior Scholarships.

Special guest speaker

The special guest speaker will be Kenneth Winchester of Slaton, who was a pastor for 34 years at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. Since 2014, he has been a member of the pastoral staff at Parkway Drive Baptist Church in Lubbock.

Kenneth recently retired from being the office manager for his wife, Donna, who practiced Dentistry in Slaton for 43 years.

The meal will be catered by River Smith’s Catering.

Tickets for the event are now on sale at $15 for adults; and $6 for children 6 to 12 years of age.

They are available at Amherst City Hall, Miller Transmission and Auto in Amherst, or from any Amherst Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture Board member.

For every ticket purchased, there will be a chance for several door prizes, and there will be a Grand Door Prize.

Kimberly Brantley, Chamber Vice President, advises: “Although the cases of COVID-19 seem to be on the decline, the Chamber will be striving to keep everyone safe, so, this is how we will handle this banquet: Seating has always been limited in the School Cafeteria, therefore, if you wish to wear a mask, you may do so, but there will be no spacing of seating.

“There will be hand sanitizer available, placed at each table for your use.

This Board has spoken to the County Judge and he has approved this approach, for the numbers of this gathering.
