Vending machine stolen at Amherst has been recovered

The Lamb County Leader-News’ newspaper vending machine was stolen from the front of the Hop In store in Amherst, sometime beween Wednesday, afternoon, Oct. 14, and Saturday afternoon, Oct. 17, 2020.

Therefore, there are no newspapers currently being sold at that location. Attempts are being made to sell the newspapers inside the store.

The vending machine was found by an Amherst resident, in a rural road ditch, on Tuesday, Oct. 20, and the Sheriff’s Department was notified and picked it up.

It was returned to the Leader-News Wednesday, Oct. 21, heavily damaged, but not opened to allow the money or newspapers to be taken from it.

Investigation is continuing into the theft. If anyone has information regarding the theft, please contact the Lamb County Sheriff’s Office at 385-7900. The informant does not have to be identified.
