A crash early Saturday morning half a mile east of Anton, resulted in two people dead and one injured, according to a news release from the Texas Department of Public Safety.

About 2:05 a.m. on Saturday, first responders arrived at a crash on US Highway 84, northwest of FM 168, about half a mile east of Anton. Officials found a 2023 Kenworth towing a semi-trailer and a 2012 Ford F-150 had collided.

An initial investigation determined the Kenworth had been driving northwest on the inner lane of US 84. The pickup had been involved in a prior crash with a different vehicle and was facing northeast across the inner lane of US 84, the release stated. The Kenworth collided with the pickup.

The Ford’s driver and one passenger, both from Littlefield, died. Maria Saucedo Ballesteros, 23, had severe injuries and died at Lamb Healthcare Center. David Enriquez, 26, was pronounced deceased at the crash. Neither wore seatbelts at the time the Kenworth collided with the pickup. The driver of the Kenworth had non-incapacitating injuries.
