Two cities, one school district conduct elections on Saturday, May 1, 2021

There were only two area cities, Anton and Earth, and one school district, Springlake-Earth ISD, that elected their council members and school trustees on election day, Saturday, May 1, 2020.

After the unofficial results are canvassed, the official results will be declared for the winners.

For the City of Anton, five candidates were on the ballot to elect three.

The three with the highest number of votes are: Michael Salsman, 143; Nicky Jezisek, 99 votes; and Clayton Hubble, with 62 votes. The others were Denny Williamson, 49 votes, and Garland Cooper with 25 votes.

For the City of Earth, three candidates were to be elected to fill that governing body’s seats, and there were five candidates on the ballot.

The three candidates with the highest number of votes were: Sayre Tovar, 132 votes; Michael Mosqueda, 89 votes; and Jesse Garcia III, 81 votes. The others were: Jennifer Contreras Acosta, 66 votes, and Tony Jones, 38 votes.

Unofficial voting results for the Springlake-Earth ISD trustees will be canvassed. The three candidates receiving the most votes out of the five on the ballot were: Jason Mosqueda, 155 votes; Tanya Stevenson, 146 votes; and Si Beerwinkle, 141 votes. The other two candidates were: Ray Castillo, 95; and Rosalia Saenz, 58 votes.

All of the other Lamb Countyarea cities and schools were able to cancel their elections, since there were the proper number of candidates to file to be on the ballots, in order to fill the positions required.
