Thursday evening, April 22, 2021, the stockholders of Texas Producers Cooperative gathered in the Lamb County Ag and Community Center in Littlefield, for its fifth Annual Meeting and Stockholders’ Dinner.

During the meeting, members learned that the gins had ginned a total of 44,032 bales of the 2020 cotton crop year.

Members were receiving a total of $38.67 Cash returned per bale, which included $17 per bale of ginning rebate payable, and $21.67 of book credits retired.

The average lint turnout was 31.78%, and the average grade was 54.13.

As the stockholders arrived, most were early enough to receive their dividend checks, before being treated to a catered meal of fish, chicken and shrimp, with all the trimmings.

Business meeting

Following the catered dinner, Board President, Bryan Baker, introduced Calvin Vernon to give the invocation, and Brent Nelson, secretary-treasurer, to read the minutes of the Sept. 19, 2020 meeting, which was approved as read.

The Sept. 19 meeting was a combination of the Tailgate Party and the Fourth Annual Business meeting that was canceled in April 2020 because of the COVID-19 Pandemic, in response to concerns for the safety of its members.

The open-air event was held under the Sudan Gin’s cotton seed barn.

Audit reviewed

Greg Taylor of D. Williams & Co., P.C. CPA’s of Lubbock reviewed the audit report of the Cooperative’s Consolidated Statement of Operations as of Feb. 28, 2021, pointing out highlights of the audit.

Directors’ election

Baker announced that three directors would be elected to fill three seats.

Nominations were received from the members in the audience, for Jerry Sowder, Freddie Maxwell, Brent Nelson, Keith Layton, and James Synatschk. The ballots, were counted and reported near the end of the meeting.

The three incumbents: Freddie Maxwell, Brent Nelson, and James Synatschk, were re-elected to serve another term.

Cooperative Manager’s Report

Cooperative Manager Guyle Roberson stood to present his report, and he began, saying, “How great it is to be here!” After getting into his introductions, he mentioned: “My Mother (Joyce Roberson) is here!” and after her welcome applause, he introduced his wife, (Sherri) and sister, (Tonya Ritchie) who were also there.

He highly complimented and expressed his appreciation for the “Wonderful People” who work with the two gins in every aspect.

Store Employees: Terry Peck – Store Manager; Karla Been, Matthew Montoya, Belle Kelley and Jimmy Williams.

Shop Employees: Larry Baker, Shop Manager; David Jimenez, Greg Thorn, Richardo Garcia, Matthew Paredez, Ben McKnight, and Joe Smith.

Trucking Employees: Curtis Buhrman, Cory Been, Clifford Conley, Rd Gass, and Brent Been.

Business Office: Tara Provence, Tracey Provence, Karen Smith, Andrew Willoughby, and Elisia Gonzales.

Agronomy, Chemical Barn: Justin Bellar, manager; Grayson Polvado, Mike Ramey, Tanner Streety, and Tim Rodriguez.

Ginning: Joe Richards, Clyde Conley, Kaci Coats, Chon Zapata, Jose Mendez, Mary Wallace, Manuel Rios, Gilbert Zapata and Curtis Hard.

Insurance: David McGehee, Seth Sowder, Cheryl Sowder, Jenny Netherland and Zack Goodwin.

Board of Directors introduced:

Roberson introduced the Board of Directors, and expressed his gratituce and appreciation to them for everything they do to make the Cooperative’s programs successful.

The Officers of the Board of Directors are:

Brent Nelson, Secretary/ Treasurer & PCG Delegate.

Mission Statement

Roberson showed the mission statement on the screen, and reminded that he always wants to do a good job for his customers.

The Cooperative’s Mission Statement reads: “To provide superior quality cotton ginning and customer service that emphasizes integrity, and conduct all phases of agribusiness that is responsive to customer needs.”

Reminded of dividend checks

After the meeting adjourned, the stockholders were reminded to pick up their dividend checks, if they had not done so earlier.
