Texas Producers Coop hosted their annual Tailgate Party Saturday, Sept. 11. It was a celebration of patriotism and support for the surrounding communities.
The concept and organization of the annual celebration is a great way for the area producers to come together, relax, and support each other during the brief pause between getting the crops established and harvest. It proved to be the perfect opportunity for all the regional cooperatives, and area producers to visit and enjoy a moment of downtime before harvest begins.
Entertainment was provided by home based country western band Penniless featuring Mike Hill on bass and vocals, Mike Corbin lead guitar and vocals, Mike Huffman on drums, and Mark Philbrick on keyboard.
Long time entertainer Kenneth Richards of Sudan presented a selection of patriotic songs to commemorate the victims and heroes on the 20th Anniversary of the attack on the World Trade Center.
Headlining the event was the Guyle Roberson band featuring Guyle Roberson, Mike Hill on guitar, Mike Ritchie on bass, Joe Richards on bass, David Newton on drums, Baxter Vaughn on steele guitar, and Mark Brown on fiddle.
The football fans were not forgotten during the celebration. A television set was provided by Lance Insurance so members could keep up with the Texas Tech game. And score updates were also an nounced by Guyle Roberson from the stage.
Complimentary gifts included t-shirts, coozies, and caps, provided by Texas Produc ers Cooperative.
