The Springlake Volunteer Fire Department’s annual 4th of July event this year will be held on Saturday, July 3, 2021, instead of Sunday, July 4.

This will be the 33rd year for that community’s Independence Day event, after having to cancel for the first time (last year) in 2020.

This year, the Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting the annual parade, a hamburger supper, cake auction, and the spectacular fireworks at dark.

The parade will begin lining up at 5 p.m. on the south end of Springlake on Hwy 385.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three floats, and plaques will be awarded to the top car and tractor. Other ribbons will be given as well,

Springlake Mayor and Fireman, Gaylon Conner, will again be serving as the parade marshal. The VFD invites everyone to bring your cars, bikes, tractors, four-wheelers, etc., and join the parade.

They also invite all county and area fire departments and EMS services to bring their trucks and join the parade.

Following the parade, everyone will gather in the City Park on the west side of the city, off Hwy 70, for the awards presentations, followed by the Cake Auction, which always a fun time. Take your chairs to enjoy the park actvivites.

Hamburgers and hot dogs will be served, once the auction is concluded. The cost of a meal is $7 for everyone, and tickets will be sold near the north entrance to the park.

All proceeds from the fund raisers go towards the purchase of firefighter (PPE) Personal Protection Equipment.

Music this year will be provided by the Trey Clarkson Band, a Texas Red Dirt band, based out of Lubbock.

At dark, members of Springlake’s Volunteer Fire Department will begin setting off the fireworks from the area west of the park. The public always enjoys the spectacular firework displays.
