(AMHERST, TX) – 19–yearold Ceci Schroeder is conducting a shoe drive fundraiser from now until Oct. 19, to raise funds for the training of her service dog.

Her project called “Service Dog for Ceci”, will earn funds based on the total weight of the pairs of gently worn, used and new shoes collected, as Funds2Orgs will issue a check for the collected shoes. Those dollars will benefit Ceci and the training of her dog.

Anyone can help by donating gently worn, used and new shoes at one of the drop-off locations listed below:

SHOE DROP- OFF LOCATIONS:

• Lamb County Veterinary Hospital: 2000 E Delano, Littlefield

• 4-H office: 100 6 th Dr. Rm. B-5 (courthouse).

• Texas Producers Coop Gin – Sudan branch

• Texas Producers Coop Gin – Amherst branch All donated shoes will then be redistributed throughout the Funds2Orgs network of microenterprise (small business) partners. Funds2Orgs works with micro-entrepreneurs in helping them create, maintain and grow small businesses in developing countries where economic opportunity and jobs are limited. Proceeds from the sales of the shoes collected in shoe drive fundraisers are used to feed, clothe and house their families. One budding entrepreneur in Haiti even earned enough to send to her son to law school.

“I’m excited about this shoe drive” says, Ceci. “I know that most people have extra shoes in their closets. This is an opportunity to get rid of them and donate to me. By doing this, I raise money to train my service dog, and also have the chance to help families in developing nations who need economic opportunities. It’s a win-win for everyone!”

By donating gently worn, used and new shoes to “Service Dog For Ceci”, the shoes will be given a second chance and make a difference in people’s lives around the world.

About “Service Dog for Ceci”

Ceci Schroeder is a senior in high school and says a service dog will help her in many ways. Among other things, the service dog will help Ceci keep her balance, making it less likely for her to fall. And in the case of a fall, the dog would be trained to make a noise and alert for help.
