READING A BOOK: “Sparky the Fire Dog” is Quinci Willoughby to Sudan First Graders, for recognition of the Sudan Firefighters, in observation of May 4, as International Firefighters’ Day. On May 4, every year, firefighters are remembered for the risks and work that firefighters take day to day. Firefighters Day was created in 1999 after five firefighters lost their lives during an Australian wildfire. International Firfighters’ Day is a time when the world can recognize and honor the sacrifices that firefighters make to ensure that their communities and environments are as safe as possible. It is also when current and past firefighters can be thanked for their contriutions.
