The Littlefield Police Department has released some of its offense and incident reports, that have occurred from Nov. 3 thru Nov. 7, 2020.

At 8:26 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, an officer was traveling in his patrol car south on South Phelps Avenue in the 1800 block when he saw a vehicle traveling north with a defective driver side headlight, and conducted a traffic stop in the 1600 block of South Phelps Avenue.

He advised the driver of the reason for the stop was for the defective headlight.

He went to his patrol unit to run the driver’s information through dispatch, and was advised that the driver had a warrant out of Lubbock County for a motion to proceed adjus capias, a felony 3 charge.

Since the Lamb County Jail was not accepting anyone, due to COVID-19, Lubbock County was asked to come pick him up.

Lubbock County told dispatch that if he was not being booked into jail, they could not come and get him. The officer then released the driver, after he gave him a warning for the defective headlight.

At 11:51 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, an officer was dispatched to the alley between West 8th and South Wicker in Littlefield, in reference to a terroristic threat.

The officer met with a man in the alley, who stated there was a male subject driving around, that kept threatening him and his work crew, telling them they needed to hurry up and finish working.

While on patrol, the officer observed the vehicle that had been described to him, and stopped it in the 100 block of East 15th Street in Littlefield.

A male subject, got out of the vehicle from the passenger side, and met with the officer, who advised him that police had received a report of a male subject threatening workers. The man told the officer he had not been threatening anyone.

After other officers arrived at the scene, the K-9 was brought to the scene by its commanding officer, and it did not alert on the vehicle.

Inside the vehicle, officers found a marijuana crusher and a pipe. The man with the vehicle was issued a citation for open container and drug paraphernalia.

At 1:15 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6,2020, an officer stopped a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt car at 300 East 14th Street, for expired registration from September 2019. The driver had no proof of financial responsibility and said he had no insurance.

The driver was issued a citation for expired registration and no insurance, and his vehicle was impounded by All Ways Towing.

The driver signed the citation and was released.

At 11:20 p.m. Nov. 9, 2020, an officer observed a car pass him at the intersection of Sunset Avenue and Waylon Jennnings Blvd, with no front license plate.

After the car had passed, the officer was able to see in his left rearview mirror that the car did not have a back license plate either, The officer made a U-turn and followed the vehicle, and made sure there was no back license plate, so he stopped the vehicle in the 500 block of South Sunset Avenue.

He observed a temporary license plate on the back windshield of the car, after he was next to the vehicle.

The officer got his driver’s license, and the driver admitted he did not have any car insurance, so he notified dispatch to call a tow truck to the scene.

The driver was issued a citation for no insurance, and a warning for not displaying a license plate.

All Ways Towing arrived and took possession of the vehicle, because of a city ordinance that the driver had no financial resonsibility, on the car. The driver was allowed to walk away from the scene.
