Plains Cotton Growers, Inc. will host a 2022 ARC/PLC and Crop Insurance Update meeting on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 to review and discuss the numerous options available to producers for the 2022 growing season through the USDA Farm Service Agency and Federal Crop Insurance Program.

The purpose of the meeting is to provide information to help producers make final decisions regarding their 2022 USDA Farm Service Agency ARC/PLC enrollments and Federal Crop Insurance purchases prior to the March 15 signup deadline for these important safety net programs.

“Given our current weather outlook, coupled with rising input costs and cotton prices going into the 2022 growing season, it is critical for producers to carefully consider the full range of risk management options available to them,” says Shawn Wade, PCG’s Director of Policy Analysis and Research. “The fact is that growers have a tremendous amount of latitude when it comes to putting together a robust risk management program due to the availability of existing crop insurance products, insurance program enhancements, and Farm Bill programs.”

Crop insurance in combination with one or more of these additional components has the ability to provide a meaningful safety-net to producers to mitigate risk throughout the crop year.

The meeting will be conducted in-person from 10:00am – 12:00pm in the Delegate Body Room at Plains Cotton Cooperative Association office in Lubbock, located at 3301 E. 50th Street. Registration for the meeting is free and lunch will be provided to attendees. An online registration link is available on the Plains Cotton Growers website at: http://www.plainscotton.org/ crop-insurance/ or you may contact the office at 806-792-4904.
