The 41st annual Olton Sandhills Celebration will be celebrated Aug. 4-7, 2021 in the city, and on the grounds of the Olton Chamber of Commerce’s Pavilion Park.

Area citizens are excited the event is coming back this year, after being canceled last year because of the COVID-19 Viral Pandemic.

Several events are on the schedule for the 41st annual event, and Chamber Manager Adrienne Synatschk is excited, and waiting for the action to begin.

On Wednesday night, Aug. 4, the Sandhills Gospel Sing will kick off the celebration in the Chamber’s Park Pavilion.

Following the gospel sing, the Chris Jones Memorial Ice Cream Social will be served.

The ice cream social was renamed to honor Chris Jones, who coordinated the event for years prior to succumbing to COVIDrelated illness in December, 2020.

On Thursday night, Aug. 5, the Sandhills Sweetheart Pageant will be staged in the School Auditorium.

Last year, because of the pandemic, the Sweetheart Pageant for high school girls was held, but the little girls didn’t get to be a part of it.

The Olton Chamber of Commerce has announced that the Sandhills Little Girls Pageant will again be a part of the Sandhills Sweethert Pageant on Thursday, Aug. 5, with Robyn Stevenson as producer again.

On Friday, Aug. 6, many class reunions will be held, and vendors will open for sales of food and other offerings.

The deadline for securing a vendor space is July 15. Call the Chamber Manager at 806-241- 9384 to reserve a space.

Friday events include the Sandhills Volleyball Tournament, a dog show, the Cornhole Tournament will be a two-person tournament with a $50 entry fee for each team. The dance under the pavilion from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. will feature Froilan Reyna as the Disc Jockey.

Saturday, Aug. 7, the final day of the celebration, will begin with the W.B. Dickenson Memorial Sandhills Celebration Parade, which is extending its invitation for participants.

Other Saturday, Aug. 7 events include vendors in Pavilion Park, inflatable slides in Stiles Park, the Sandhills Car Show, the Sandhills Horseshoe Tournament, and new events, the Corn Hole Tournaments, and a Sandhills Truck Show.

The car show will feature vintage and antique cars and pickups, while the truck show will be for semi trucks.
