Item 10 on the agenda was to consider and approve Employee Assistance Program Agreement. City Manager Ray Resendez addressed the council stating that an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) specifically designed for first responders offers confidential counseling, crisis intervention, and resources to address the unique challenges and stressors faced by police, firefighters, EMTs, and other vital response personnel.
The cost would be $1,507.20 per year. Adopting an EAP would also meet state mandate for first responders.
Mayor Turpen made the motion to accept the EAP agreement and it was seconded by Council Member Saenz. The motion passed with 4 ayes and 1 absent.
