A “Code Red” message to Littlefield residents that was called to them on their telephones Monday morning, April 4, 2022, advised the need to boil their water before consuming it, has now been rescinded.

The first message advised that a contractor struck a large water main, and the water pressure to the city’s public water system dropped below the regulated standard for a brief amount of time.

Because of that, the Texas Commission of Environmental Quality (TCEQ), mandated that notices be sent to all customers accessing water from the Littlefield system, to boil their water at least two minutes, before consuming it.

The most recent official message from the City of Littlefield, regarding the “boil water notice”, was called to the residents at about 11:25 a.m. Wednesday morning. It stated: “As of 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2022, the mandated Boil Water Notice for the City of Littlefield has been rescinded.

“All mandated procedures have been met, and all lab results have been received, confirming that water provided by the City of Littlefield’s water system, is now safe for human consumption. You may now drink water from your tap as normal.

“Thank you for your patience throughout this difficult situation,” the message concludes.
