Littlefield’s LEDC director taking Levelland position

Littlefield’s Economic Development Corporation’s Type “A” Board of Directors accepted the resignation of Executive Director, Justin Balderas,Thursday, March 24, 2022, following a noon meet-ing of the board.

Balderas will be the new director of the Levelland Economic Development Corporation (LEDC), effective April 12, 2022. The announcement comes after the Levelland LEDC met Thursday to finalize the arrangement.

“The City of Levelland couldn’t be more excited about Justin. He brings some unique experience and a wealth of knowledge to this position, and I know he will continue to build on our vision for the growth and development of Levelland,” said José Cavazos, Interim City Manager for the City of Levelland.

The LEDC Board of Directors started the search for a new director upon receiving the news of former director, David Rushing’s, retirement. Rushing retired from the City of Levelland on February 28 and started a new position with the Lubbock Economic Development Alliance shortly afterward.

Balderas has seven years of experience in economic development, while he served as the Executive Director of the Littlefield Economic Development Corporation.

Balderas has worked in both federal and municipal government sectors and served in the United States Marine Corps for eight years.

“His discipline, skill set and energy are going to be great for our economic development plans. I’m confident Justin will be a great asset to Levelland EDC. I eagerly look forward to working with him,” said Elgin Conner, President of the Levelland Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors.

Balderas said: “I am extremely honored and excited to have been selected as the new Executive Director of the Levelland Economic Development Corporation. The City of Levelland is always leading the way in its economic development efforts. It has a long rich history of success, and I look forward to continuing in this tradition.”
