Littlefield resident Edwin Gutierrez received a 30-year prison sentence and pleaded guilty to the murder of 30-year-old Edward Jimenez Jr. in 2023. Gutierrez committed the act at 17 years old.
In January of 2023, the Littlefield Police Department responded to a call reported from Jimenez Jr.’s home around 11 p.m. Officers found Jimenez Jr. dead with a gunshot wound and reported his vehicle stolen.
Through a joint investigation conducted by Littlefield Police, Lubbock Police and the Texas Rangers, officials arrested Gutierrez on May 3, 2023. Gutierrez entered a guilty plea deal on April 10, 2025, and received his 30-year sentence.
