Littlefield EMS, in cooperation with West Texas EMS Resources, will be hosting an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) course in Littlefield at the EMS Station. This 324-hour course will begin January 25th and continue through June. The course will be held every Monday and Wednesday evening from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Littlefield EMS Station.

The Advanced EMT course builds upon the knowledge of basic life support and the treatment skills learned in the EMT-Basic course. Therefore, one must already have EMT-Basic training and currently hold a state certification or be in the process of applying for state certification at the Basic EMT Level.

After the completion of the classroom or didactic portion of the course, students are required to attend emergency room and EMS field rotations/ clinicals in order to satisfy course requirements. Once all hours are successfully completed, the student will be eligible to sit for the National Registry of EMT’s hands-on skills examination as well as their written examination. Successful completion of both exams is required for eligibility to apply for state certification and licensure to practice as an Advanced EMT.

Anyone interested in taking the Advanced EMT course needs to contact Michael Jordan, EMS Training Officer, at (806)523-9402, mj ordan@lfdtx. city or the Littlefield EMS Station at (806)385-6694. Course Schedule and Tuition Fees will be given upon request.
