Lfd. City Council holds regular meeting Dec. 20

The city council of Littlefield met at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 in the Council Chambers at 525 Phelps Ave.

The meeting was called to order by Mayor Eric Turpen at 6 p.m.

Mayor Pro Tempore, Kenny Rucker led the invocation. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Council Member, Eric Saenz.

There were no public requests to comment on any items of the agenda.

No new employees were presented for introduction.

The minutes from the November 22nd meeting were read. Council member Michael Rangel made the motion to approve the minutes. The second motion was made by Kenny Rucker. The motion passed unanimously.

Mayor Turpen then called for the council to consider and approve the Monthly Departmental Reports. After determining no corrections were needed, the monthly reports were unanimously approved.

The next item on the agenda was to consider and approve expenses for November. Council member Michael Rangel made the motion to approve the November expenses. Mayor Pro Tempore, Kenny Rucker made the second. The motion passed unanimously.

Mayor Turpen stated there is a proclamation for John D. McCarty which will be presented on the occasion of his upcoming 90th birthday.

The council members then considered the direction regarding the 2023 sealcoating project. City Manager Mitch Grant explained the previous two years sealcoating progress and requested direction for 2023 plans. After some discussion, Mayor Turpen made the motion to complete the northwest area of town as started last year, then start on Dunbar and then south of Delano Avenue. Kenny Rucker seconded the motion and the motion passed unanimously.

After wishing everyone a safe and happy Christmas holiday, Mayor Turpen adjourned the meeting.
