Lfd. Area Stock Show begins receiving animals Jan. 12

The 2022 Littlefield Area Junior Livestock Show and Sale will begin receiving animals in the Lamb County Ag and Community Center Barn from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12.

Bringing their animals to the show will be 4-H and FFA exhibitors from Littlefield, Amherst and Sudan communities, and they must have them in the barn by 11 A.M. Thursday, Jan. 13.

The weighing of steers and checking in of the heifers will begin at 11:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 13.

At 12 noon Thursday, Ag Mechanics Projects will begin checking in.

Weight cards of swine, lambs and goats will be due into the office at 12 noon Thursday. The weigh-in order for all species will be for Lamb County 4-H, Littlefield FFA, Sudan FFA and Amherst FFA members.

Swine weigh-in begins at 12 noon and continues until 1:30 p.m.

At 1 pm the Ag Mechanics judging will begin.

From 1:30 to 2 p.m., lambs will be weighed in, then at 2 p.m., goats will be weighed in.

At 4 pm, the dairy heifer show will begin, followed by the heifers, steers, and beef showmanship

Friday, Jan. 14

At 8 a.m., exhibitors will begin getting their pens cleaned, and rubbish removed.

Also at 8 a.m. the Goat Show will be followed by the Lamb Show, then the Swine Show will be judged.

Saturday Auction Sale

Prior to the premium auction Sale that starts at 1 p.m., an appreciation lunch for buyers and donors will be served by 4-H and FFA members from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Animal Superintendents

Superintendents for the various animal divisions are: Cary Hanlin of Littlefield, the steers and beef heifers; John VanDePol of Amherst, Dairy Heifers; Jeff Edwards of Amherst, lambs; Kyle Muller of Littlefield, goats; Brandon Hill of Sudan , swine; and Sal Acevedo of Littlefield, the Ag Mechanics projects.

Show Officials

Clay Carr is president of the 2022 Littlefield Area Junior Livestock Show and Sale. Chris Harper is Past President.

Jeff Edwards is vice president; Tyson Carr, secretary; Kris Humphreys, treasurer; and Ryan McNabb reporter.

Javier Gonzales is the Sale Meal Coordinator; Seth Sowder. sale coordinator; Cari McCurry, Bookkeeper; Littlefield FFA concession stand; Brian Acevedo, Media Officer; Dr. Jason Schroeder show veterinarian; and Guyle Roberson, auctioneer for the Supreme Sale.

FFA and 4-H Advisors

Advising the youths with their FFA and 4-H projects have been Cody Spies, Littlefield FFA; Dalton Howard, Sudan FFA; Johnny Brock, Amherst FFA; and Kendra Callahan, Lamb County Extension.

Show Judges

Judging the different divisions are Skip Adams, steers and beef heifers; Connor Brew, lambs and goats; Cameron Knight, swine; and Dennis Pate, Ag Mechanics.

The judge for the dairy heifers had not been decided earlier in the month.

The public is invited to observe the judging of all the animal categories.
