LEDC Type ‘A’ holds regular meeting

The Littlefield Economic Development Coorporation Type A met at noon on Friday, Jan. 29th for their regular meeting.

The meeting was called to order by President Joel Griffith at 12:06 p.m. and the Invocation was given by Vice President Lori Zinn. Treasurer Gary Jones led the pledge of allegiance.

Jones made a motion to approve the minutes from the previous meeting as read and it was seconded by Zinn. The motion carried.

Justin Balderas presented the Director’s Report. He has been added to the National Small Business Association Leadership Council. This organization provides information regarding Business trends. Zinn made the motion to approve the report and it was seconded by Jones. The motion carried.

The Board discussed Buxton Amended fees and terms Year two deliverables.

The fees for this year were supposed to be $49,500.00. Justin has requested a reduction of the fee. The proposed fees for Year two and three are now $15,000.00 each year. Justin said Buxton does provide good support for community businessess. The motion to approve this new agreement for Year two was made by ones and seconded by Zinn. The motion carried.

The Board discussed a contract for Water Well(s) to support Select Milk/Continental Dairy Facilities Southwest (Job Retention and Job Creation). After some discussion, Jones made the motion to table this item and it was seconded by Zinn the motion carried.

The Board next discussed participation of Routine Airport Maintenance Program (RAMP) Grant.

City Manager Mitch Grant explained the Routine Airport Maintenance Program with TxDOT provides 50% match for work at airports. The suggested uses would be: Monuments Sign—$15,000 to $20,000; PAPI LED upgrade for lighting—$41,845; Hose Reel for Fuel—$1,200; Terminal Window Repairs estimated at $3,600. The total is $66,645 and 50% would be $33,322. The motion to approve this plan was made by Jones and seconded by Zinn. The motion carried.

The Board discussed plans for Industrial Air Park new T-Hangers Project.

City Manager Mitch Grant proposed the construction of a new T-Hangar costing $350,000-$500,000 at the airport. They could be rented and used by various individuals or companies. A future agenda item would provide more specifics.

The motion to approve the plans for Industrial Air Parkwas made by Zinn and seconded by Jones. The motion carried.

Lastly, the Board discussed Rehabilitation of existing hangers. The motion to approve recommended $30,000 for new floor and reskin of City hanger was made by Zinn and seconded by Jones. The motion carried.

President Griffith adjourned the meeting at 12:56 p.m.
