Gins have ginned 8,773 cotton bales of Lamb County’s 2020 crop

The six gins in Lamb County had ginned a total of 8,773 bales of cotton, according to a survey made Tuesday morning, Oct. 20, 2020.

Olton Ag Producers Gin had ginned a total of 5,760 bales since its first bale was completed Tuesday, Sept. 29, when they earned the title of being the first to gin 2020 cotton in the county.

The Texas Producers Cooperative, Inc. branch gin at Sudan has gined a total of 1,797 bales, since its first bale was ginned Monday, Oct. 12 at 3:07 p.m.

Spade Coop Gin turned out its first bale on Tuesday, Oct. 13, and as of Tuesday, Oct. 20, has ginnea total of 994 bales.

The Springlake-Earth Cotton Growers Gin at Springlake, produced its first bale Friday, Oct. 16, and by Tuesday morning, Oct. 20, had ginned a total of 222 bales.

There are many fields of cotton in Lamb County that are showing a lot of “white to harvest”, and will soon be stripped from the stalks, and taken to a gin.

When the results of the 2019 crop year were complete and recorded, a total of 173,700 bales were ginned that year.

For the year 2019, there were 193,500 acres planted, 122,700 acres harvested, for an average of 680 bales per acre.
