A Floydada teenager suffered serious injuries following a recent accident, and her family is organizing community support to cover their daughter’s medical expenses.
17- year- old Jazlyn, “Jazzy,” faces a long road to recovery, according to the description of the GoFundMe created by Laura Cruz. Throughout her recovery, her family remains by her side.
“Jazlyn is currently facing a difficult road to recovery. What should be a time in her life filled with school, friends, and dreams for the future has suddenly turned into hospital visits, pain, and uncertainty,” the post reads. “Our family has been by her side every step of the way, supporting her as she fights to heal.”
Described as “bright and beautiful,” Jazlyn’s family highlighted her infectious qualities in their GoFundMe post: “ Anyone who knows Jazlyn knows how special she is. She has a kind heart, a bright smile, and a spirit that brings joy to everyone around her,” the post reads. “She is loved deeply by her family and friends, and right now she needs all the support she can get.”
The donation goal remains at $ 10,000, with hopes of covering medical bills, hospital care, ongoing treatment and rehabilitation, transportation and other unexpected expenses. Both of Jazlyn’s parents stepped away from work to remain by her side.
Jazlyn’s family asks for donations of any amount, emphasizing the difference any donation makes. For those unable to donate, her family asks community members to share the GoFundMe link–available on Laura Cruz’s Facebook– and to keep Jazlyn in their prayers.
Additionally, Cruz is collecting donations from tshirt purchases printed with #JazzyStrong. Shirts are $20, $15 for kids’ sizes and $23 for 2XL and 3XL.
Jazlyn’s GoFundMe link is posted on Laura Cruz’s Facebook page and is searchable on the GoFundMe website under “Help Jazlyn Recover After a Serious Accident.”
