Donna Neinast takes first in Week 11 Football Contest

The Lamb County Leader-News Football Contest just finished it’s 11th week, leaving just one more week until we see who the big winner is.

This week we had five contestants finish with a mark of 16-4: Kay Cloninger, Lonnie Neinast, Donna Neinast, Dewayne Hayes and Nancy Smith.

The tie-breaker this week was the combined score of the Panthers and Chiefs, which was 64 points.

Donna Neinast secured first place with a guess off 55 points, while Kay Cloninger placed second with a guess of 54 points. Lonnie Neinast and Hayes tied for third place both guessing 52 points, edging out Nancy Smith’s guess of 45 points.

In the high school ranks, Littlefield shutout Muleshoe, 26-0, while Springlake-Earth 45’ed Kress, 54-8, and Olton took down Farwell, 42-21. Seminole edged out Levelland, 49-48, while Sundown took down New Deal, 35-21, and Sudan held on against New Home, 38-20.

O’Donnell throttled Meadow, 67-8, while Abernathy downed Coahoma, 21-14. Idalou took down Roosevelt, 42-21, while Hale Center downed Floydada, 50-14.

In the college ranks, Notre Dame stunned number one ranked Clemson, 47-40, in double overtime, and Oklahoma State edged out Kansas State, 20-18. Indiana topped Michigan, 38-21, while USC snuck past Arizona State, 28-27.

TCU took down the Red Raiders, 34-18.

In the NFL ranks, the Saints blasted Tampa Bay, 38-3, while the Titans took down the Bears, 24-17, and the Texans took down the Jaguars, 27-25.

The Steelers rallied past the Cowboys, 24-19, while the Dolphins edged out the Cardinals, 34-31.

Evan Barrera, Terrill Moorhead and Tommy Cloninger each finished this week 15-5, while Bobby Cunningham, Charlie Smith, David Neinast, Devin Garcia, Floyce Pierce, Jan Smith, Jay Lee, Johnny Rosemond, Junior Garcia, Oscar Sanchez, Sam Castillo and Stevy Smith, each finished 14-6.

Those who finished 13-7 this week were Alma Castillo, Brenda Herrell, Lyndel Evans, Marcus Garcia and Missy Cunningham, while Devin Jones, Ed Dabrowski, Jim Davis Sr., JR Herren and Mark Grace each finished 12-8.

Danny Sanders, Ivan Estrada, James Hood, Jim Davis Jr., Larry Ashley and Teresa Dabrowski each finished 11-9, while Robin Elliott finished 9-11.

In the overall standings, Lonnie Neinast leads the overall standings with 184 points, while Tommy Cloninger sits in second place with 181 points. Kay Cloninger and David Neinast are tied for third with 176 points, while Nancy Smith, Jan Smith, Lee and Grace are tied for fourth with 173 points.

Stevy Smtih is in fifth place with 172 points, while Pierce and JR Herrell are tied for sixth with 170 points. Hayes and Estrada are tied for seventh with 169 points, while Donna Neinast and Marcus Garcia are tied for eighth with 168 points.

Rosemond is in ninth with 167 points and Evans rounds out the top 10 with 165 points.
