The Crafty Gardeners held their first annual meeting at Loco’s Restaurant, Tuesday, March 23, 2021.
The group also bid a fond farewell to a founding member, Marjorie Pierce, who is moving to Kiowa Lake, Texas. She and her husband, Floyce Pierce, have been long-time residents and avid gardeners in Littlefield. The Club presented Marjorie with a festive, sunflower wreath made by Donna Hatley.
The Crafty Gardeners is a group of people who enjoy landscapes, gardens, and crafts.
According to Teresa McNabb, “We are not part of some larger organization, there are no dues collected, we just get together once a month. The dress code is just brush the garden dirt off and come join us’.”
Their activities include tours of members’ gardening projects, guest speakers, making craft projects for gardens, plant sales, and an annual visit to the Lubbock Memorial Arboretum.
Each year the group collects money which is used to purchase books on gardening, to donate to the Lamb County Library. Over the years, the group has created a substantial gardening section at the Library, for the public to use.
The Crafty Gardeners will next meet in Crescent Park in Littlefield on Tuesday, April 27th, at 6 p.m.
Anyone interested in gardening and fellowship is welcome.
Those who are interested in attending, are asked to bring their lawn chair, so they will have a place to sit.
