The Covid-19 vaccine is available by request for persons within Tier lA and 1B at the LHC Family Medicine Clinic; however, the clinic is receiving limited amounts of the vaccine, which is allocated by the state of Texas.

There is no charge for the vaccine.

In order to receive the vaccine at the clinic, those who meet the prescribed criteria must call their medical provider at the clinic to be added to the waiting list. According to the Texas State Department of Health Services, persons in Tier 1A and Tier 1B are currently eligible to receive the vaccine.

Tier 1A - Residents and staff of nursing homes and assisted living facilities; health care workers, including first responders

Tier 1B - People 65 and older or people 16 and older with a health condition that increases risk of severe COVID-19 illness, including, but not limited to:

• Cancer

• Chronic kidney disease

• COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease)

• Down Syndrome

• Heart conditions, such as heart failure, coronary artery disease, or cardiomyopathies

• Organ transplantation

• Obesity

• Pregnancy

• Sickle cell disease

• Type 2 diabetes

If you have a medical condition not listed above, you may still qualify for the vaccine. Consult your medical provider to confirm.

Once a person is on the waiting list, the clinic will contact them to schedule their vaccination. Upon arrival, there will be a short form to complete. Once the vaccine is administered, there will be a 15-minute wait to ensure there is no adverse reaction to the vaccine, and if the vaccine requires a second dose, a reminder card is provided.
