Constitutional election slated for May 7, 2022

An Order for a Special Constitutional Amendment Election has been issued for Saturday, May 7, 2022.

Two State Propositions will be on a special election ballot,

The only day early voting will be open early and late is Wednesday, April 27, 2022, from 7 a.m. to 7 p..m.

Every other day early voting will be conducted from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the County Clerk’s Office of the Courthouse, Room 103.

On Election Day, voters in Precincts 1 and 5 will vote in the Lamb County Actifities Building (Lon’s Club), 406 Second Street in Olton.

Voters in Voting precincts 3 and 12 will vote in the Earth Community Center, 104 Birch Stret in Earth.

Voters in voting Precincts 4 and 11 will vote at the Sudan Community Ceter, 109 East First Aveuein Sudan.

Of special notice, on election day, voters in voting Precincts 2, 6, 8 and 9 will vote in the County Clerk’s Office, Room 103, of the Lamb County Couthouse.

Voters in Voting Precinct 10 will vote in the Amherst city Hall, 1011 Main Street in Amherst.

Constitutional Amendments Proposition Number 1 (SJR 2) will appear on the ballot as follows: “The constitutional amendment

“The constitutional amendment authorizing the legislature to provide for the reduction of the amount of a limitation on the total amount of ad valorem taxes that may be imposed for general elementary and secondary public school purposes on the residence homestead of a person who is elderly or disabled to reflect any statutory reduction from the preceding tax year in the maximum compressed rate of the maintenance and operations taxes imposed for those purposes on the homestead.” * * *

“The constitutional amendment increasing the amount of the residence homestead exemption from ad valorem taxation for pulic school purposes from $25,000 to $40,000.”
