Commissioners hold regular meeting Monday

The Commissioners Court of Lamb County met in regular session on Monday, August 7th in the Lamb County Courthouse in Littlefield to discuss a 12-item agenda.

Lamb County Judge James DeLoach called the meeting to order at 9.m. and gave the invocation before leading the U.S. Pledge of Allegiance and Texas Pledge.

There was nobody present for Public Comment.

Consent agenda items: (a) Consider and take appropriate action on minutes from previous meeting(s); Special Meeting July 28, 2023 and Regular Meeting, July 31, 2023.

(b) Consider and take appropriate action on budget and salary amendments and/or line item transfers; None (c) Consider and take appropriate action on bills presented by the County Auditor; Gina Jones (d) Consider and take appropriate action on payroll; Jerry Yarbrough (e) Consider and take appropriate action on departmental reports; None The motion was made by Commissioner Lee Logan and seconded by Commissioner Cory DeBerry to approve the consent agenda items. The motion passed unanimously.

Item four on the agenda was to consider and take appropriate action on accepting donation of excess filing folders from Potter Co The motion was made by Commissioner Logan and seconded by Commissioner Danny Short to approve the donation of excess filing folders from Potter Co. to the Lamb County District Clerk’s Office. The motion passed unanimously.

Item five on the agenda was to discuss Lamb Healthcare Center operations, but Cindy Pope was absent from the meeting.

Rickie Redman reported Nolan Greak will call TECO to follow up on July 28th, the Special Commissioner’s Court Meeting.

Constituents regarding the Lamb Healthcare Center operations will need to contact Hospital Board Members.

The next item on the agenda was to consider and take appropriate action on Proposed Tax Rate.

The Motion was made by Commissioner Logan and seconded by Commissioner Short to approve the Proposed Tax Rate of .7462 the Voter approved rate. The motion passed unanimously.

Item seven on the agenda was to consider and take appropriate action to Schedule a Public Hearing on 2024 Budget The Motion was made by Commissioner Kent Lewis and sec-onded by Commissioner Logan to approve Scheduling a Public Hearing on 2024 Budget for Monday, August 28, 2023 at 9 a.m. The motion passed unanimously.

Under future agenda items, it was noted that Lamb County will be compliant with Sexual Assault Guidelines by end of year. Judge DeLoach stated that the Ag Barn Renovations will begin after Labor Day. Judge DeLoach also noted that Lamb County now owns the Property across the street on the Southeast side of the Courthouse.

Monday, August 14, 2023 will be the Lamb County Annual Benefits Fair from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Our Place Community Center.

The Commissioners Court Recessed for 10 minutes.

Item 10 was Budget work session.

There was a discussion regarding employee raises and State funded grants for District Attorney and Sheriff’s Office.

Item 11 was consider and take appropriate action on Elected Officials Salaries; No action taken.

With there being no further business to come before this Commissioners Court, the motion was made by Commissioner Logan and seconded by Commissioner Short to adjourn. The motion passed unanimously and the meeting was adjourned.
