The City of Littlefield issued a press release regarding the current situation with the winter storm rolling through the area.
This winter storm has caused many challenges with maintaining emergency services, water service, garbage collection, and travel in the City of Littlefield.
Currently, we are experiencing a smooth blanket of snow. As the snow and sub-freezing temperatures persist, the City crews are focusing on keeping emergency routes clear. Scraping streets prematurely can cause extra hazardous conditions with refreezing of partially melted streets.
We are standing by with salt and gravel for problem areas, as they appear. Travel at this time is not recommended unless absolutely necessary.
