Bob Edwards hosts 16th annual Fish Fry

Ahead of Easter Sunday and his 92nd birthday, Bob Edwards hosted the 16th annual Fish Fry.

This event has occurred every year since Edwards’ 85th birthday, and since then, Edwards devoted himself to hosting an annual fish fry for as long as possible.

Family and community members alike gather every year to honor the tradition with fish plates, dessert and tea.

Additionally, proceeds of each fish plate are donated to the New Mexico Christian Children’s Home.

Edwards’ great-nephew, Jason Trotter, said Edwards’ passion for fishing initiated the tradition.

“He always loved to fish,” Trotter said, “he used to do lots of fishing at (Lyndon B. Johnson) Lake every day.”

At the event’s entrance, attendees signed in to a book specifically made for Edwards to remember who attended each year. Surrounded by family and com-munity members, Edwards greeted those who came by his table to wish him a happy birthday, which falls on April 21.

Every year, Edwards said what he looks forward to the most is the company of others and seeing the community come together.
